Community Health Care, Gulu region, Uganda

In association with World Vision we provided training for community health workers enabling visits to villages for the provision of health care and education. In addition, water wells were provided for vulnerable villages along with a secondary school at Paminano, Gulu, together with a safe house for widows and vulnerable young people.

Community Health Care

In association with World Vision a two-year programme was provided for training community health workers who would visit local villages in the Gulu region of Uganda and provide health care and education. This is an essential activity in order to improve health awareness and deliver basic healthcare, leading to a better quality of life for the community.

Some villages were found where there was no safe water supply available. Cases where the water sources were unprotected from pollution. Using labour from the village, hand dug wells were constructed using safe methods of construction to provide an all season reliable and maintainable water supply.

A newly constructed Bethel secondary school at Paminano, Gulu was provided with a water well to give safe water to the students.

A safe house has been provided for widows and vulnerable young people in Gulu, run by our partner Finding the Way.
