who we are.

Anazao was established in response to the United Nations call on governments and the corporate world to rise to the challenge of meeting eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) - the call  to help the underprivileged around the world.

Extreme poverty is caused by the inability of poor households to invest in the education of their children, limited access to credit for those with few assets, and the lack of productive labour of the hungry. Factors such as  lack of safe water & sanitation, poor basic education, gender inequality, may result in starvation, debilitating diseases and death. Communities where extreme poverty is prevelant  often have no environmental & economic sustainability.

The MDGs range from halving extreme poverty, to halting the spread of death &  HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, by a target date of 2015. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts from the governments of over 190 countries to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.

Despite this  effort there has only been modest progress in meeting the world’s poorest needs. Future generations will find it hard to explain how, in 2009, the world had never been more prosperous or more technologically advanced, had never grown so much food or understood diet and health better, yet could still allow more 820 million people to go to bed hungry every night.

Anazao has been birthed out of our individual and collective passion to alleviate the effects of poverty and our desire to bring life to broken communities.

Anazao Project Objectives

Facilitate the call for Businesses to contribute to the challenge of meeting the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.

Promote health and welfare of women, children and young people.

Support the development of coherent and qualitatively improved education that will give children and young people skills that correspond to their needs, and can thus lead to productive employment and active engagement in the development of their society.

Enable women to engage in income generating activities that will improve their families and livelihoods.

Humanitarian support for the needs of children and young people in conflict situations focusing on internally displaced persons.

Corporate organisations donate a percentage (say 1%) of quarterly profits towards the support of their chosen Development Project.

Anazao deliver the project in partnership with local in-country organisations, where available, and the Corporate organisation. Where there are no suitable local organisations those that are available will be supplemented with appropriate resources to ensure an efficient and successful organisation is established. The aim is ultimately self sufficiency.

Anazao will report on progress as reasonably required to the Corporate organisation.

Benefits to Corporate Organisations

Staff and shareholder satisfaction that they are responding to a UN sponsored call to support a worthy cause that will not only save lives but bring about dramatic improvement in the lives of many underprivileged women, children and young people.
